Summer: A Season of Social Rest, Joy & Shared Life

Summer reminds us of something God declared from the very beginning: it is not good for us to be alone. We were created for connection—not constant availability, but meaningful relationship.
In this season, rest often comes not from retreating inward, but from leaning gently into relationships that nourish us. The kind where laughter flows easily. Where you don’t have to explain yourself. Where your nervous system softens simply by being present.
Social rest is about being with people who allow you to exhale. Who see you clearly and love you well. And just as importantly, it’s about showing up as you are—without striving, performing, or overgiving.
This week, notice who brings peace to your spirit. Who reminds you that joy is holy and connection is a gift. Thank God for them. And allow yourself to receive the rest He offers through community.
Scripture: Genesis 2:18
Social-Rest Meditation
Find a comfortable position and take a slow breath in… and out.
Quiet your body and your thoughts.
Gently repeat: I was created for connection.
Bring to mind someone who feels safe, life-giving, and grounding.
Notice how your body responds as you imagine being with them.
Offer a prayer of gratitude for this relationship.
Ask God to guide you toward connections that restore, not deplete.
Rest here for a few breaths, held in God’s design for shared life.
With grace,
Tanya
