Winter Is Holy: Entering the Sacred Stillness

Winter is not a season to rush through.
It is not a problem to solve, nor a delay to endure. Winter was created by God, intentionally, lovingly, as a time for slowing, deepening, and restoring what has been depleted.
In creation, winter is when life retreats beneath the surface. Roots grow stronger. The soil rests. Nothing looks productive, yet everything is being prepared. And so it is with us.
Before Lent calls us into reflection and surrender, winter offers us permission to rest. To hibernate. To nest. To listen more closely for God’s quiet work within us.
Over the coming weeks, The Gift of Sacred Rest will walk gently through winter as a sacred season, one of stillness, nourishment, and holy preparation. You are invited to move slowly, release urgency, and receive rest as an act of trust.
Winter is not empty. It is full of God.
Guided Biblical Meditation
Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:1
Find a comfortable, quiet space.
Take three slow breaths, allowing your shoulders to soften.
Silently repeat: “There is a season for this.”
Imagine yourself resting in God’s care, held without expectation.
Close by whispering: “Lord, help me receive this season as You intended.”
With grace,Tanya
